Putnam waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They never let the Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts Mustangs get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Kingsmen, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Ian Pollard was a major factor no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. He also allowed no hits, which is notable because Putnam is 4-2 when he allows at most one hit, but 9-11 otherwise. Pollard was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Pollard wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Joe Salvione, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Putnam's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-13. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-15 record this season.

Putnam will have a chance to go back-to-back against Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
