Softball Game Preview: Elizabeth Bulldogs vs. Marquez Gladiators

Elizabeth is 0-10 against Marquez since March of 2018 but things could change on Wednesday. The Bulldogs will venture away from home to challenge the Gladiators at 3:45 p.m. Elizabeth has given up an average of 24.7 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Elizabeth is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 18th straight game dating back to last season last Friday. They came up short against Maywood CES, falling 19-2.

Meanwhile, Marquez came tearing into Monday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 7-2 win over the Rough Riders.

Marquez pushed their record up to 14-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Elizabeth, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Elizabeth suffered a grim 18-2 defeat to Marquez when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
