Softball Recap: Tipton Takes a Loss

If Tipton was riding high fresh off their 17-2 takedown of Bunceton two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cardinals fell 7-3 to the Green Ridge Tigers on Monday. The Cardinals have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Anna Crane spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Myra Haas was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Raylyn Wilfong also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Tipton now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Green Ridge, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-7.

Looking ahead, Tipton will square off against Concordia at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Green Ridge, they will face off against Lakeland at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
