Volleyball Recap: Lake Nona Comes Up Short

Lake Nona lost against Cypress Creek back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Lions fell just short of the Bears by a score of 3-2. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lake Nona started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 23-25, 21-25, 25-14, 25-16, 15-9.

Defeat or not, Lake Nona got some senior leadership from Jonathan Mckenna and Jayden Serrano. Mckenna had 27 digs and two assists, while Serrano had 12 digs and two aces. Serrano is also crushing it when it comes to assists: he's posted at least 18 every time he's taken the court this season. Sebasti?n Perez also deserves some recognition as he served his first ace of the season.

Lake Nona's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Cypress Creek, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Lake Nona wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Creekside on the 4th. As for Cypress Creek, they will head out to challenge Innovation at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
