Softball Game Preview: Blue Ridge Tigers vs. S & S Consolidated Rams

Blue Ridge is 0-4 against S & S Consolidated since February of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. The Blue Ridge Tigers will square off against the S & S Consolidated Rams at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Blue Ridge was handed a ten-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Howe, sneaking past 2-1. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won three in a row.

Paige Elder spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kenzie Baker, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in stolen bases.

Meanwhile, S & S Consolidated put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Bells a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Rams have won six games by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

S & S Consolidated's win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Blue Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.

Blue Ridge might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from S & S Consolidated in their previous meeting back in February of 2019. Can Blue Ridge avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
