Soccer Game Preview: Columbia Central vs. Shelbyville Central

The Columbia Central Lions will venture away from home to challenge the Shelbyville Central Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Shelbyville Central took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Columbia Central, who comes in off a win.

The home team had come away the winner the last three times Columbia Central and Lincoln County had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Lions' defense stepped up to hand the Falcons a 2-0 shutout last Thursday. Given Columbia Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee soccer rankings (they are ranked 86th, while Lincoln County are ranked 210th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite a strong season so far, Shelbyville Central has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Holy Spirit Prep.

Columbia Central's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-1-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 11 goals over those three matches. As for Shelbyville Central, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3-1.
