Basketball Game Preview: Larimore Polar Bears vs. Midway/Minto Mustangs

Larimore is 2-8 against Midway/Minto since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Larimore Polar Bears will be taking part in a tournament against the Midway/Minto Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Larimore comes in on three and Midway/Minto on four.

Larimore took a 22-point loss the last time they faced off against Dakota Prairie, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Larimore beat Dakota Prairie on Tuesday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 50-48.

Larimore got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Baron Burns out in front who went 5-for-10 en route to 13 points. Burns is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 40% in the last three games he's played. Avery Gratton was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with nine points and 12 rebounds.

Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and Midway/Minto had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against Park River/Fordville-Lankin by a score of 62-52 on Tuesday.

Larimore's win bumped their record up to 15-8. As for Midway/Minto, their victory bumped their record up to 20-2.

Larimore ended up a good deal behind Midway/Minto when the teams last played back in December of 2024, losing 66-49. Can Larimore avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
