League recap: Pennsauken Tech lifted by Vargas' performance at the plate

Freelance league recap: 5/14/12

Luis Vargas was on fire this week, as he led Freelance with a .765 average, one home run and eight RBIs. Meanwhile, Pennsauken Tech put together a 3-2 week.

Kelvin Ramos was the best pitcher in the league this week. His stat line for the week included one win and 10 Ks.

Rutgers Prep's pitching staff dominated this week, allowing only 28 hits and five walks, both of which led the league. The Argonauts have given up a mere 210 hits on the year in addition to compiling 95 strikeouts. Michael Klinger is the leader in that category with 47 Ks on the season.

Pennsauken Tech sprayed a league-best 58 hits this week, but still trails Rutgers Prep, which holds the season lead in base knocks with 212. With 34 hits this year Vargas leads the seventh-place squad, which finished with a 3-2 record this week.

Pennsauken Tech's Vargas led the league with 13 hits this week. His 34 hits for the year are second in the league, and he boasts a .654 batting average.
