Baseball Recap: North Smithfield Takes a Loss

If North Smithfield was feeling good fresh off their 7-0 takedown of Davies Career & Tech on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Northmen lost 10-4 to the West Warwick Wizards on Saturday. The defeat continues a trend for the Northmen in their meetings with the Wizards: they've now lost three in a row.

Logan Robertson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of North Smithfield's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 5-7 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Albino, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

North Smithfield now has a losing record of 7-8. As for West Warwick, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.

North Smithfield wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 3-2 win against Classical on the 12th. As for West Warwick, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 4-3 loss against Ponaganset on the 12th.
