Recap: Simi Valley Pioneers vs. Clovis West Golden Eagles
The Simi Valley Pioneers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. The match between Simi Valley and Clovis West wasn't particularly close, with Simi Valley falling 78-59. While losing is never fun, Simi Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 174th, while Clovis West is ranked sixth).
Simi Valley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryder Mjoen, who scored 19 points. Mjoen scored a full 32.2% of Simi Valley's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Rener, who scored 17 points.
Simi Valley's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Clovis West, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Simi Valley will look to defend their home court on Friday against Oaks Christian at 5:00 p.m. Clovis West won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Oak Park at 6:30 p.m. on December 1st.
