Recap: Syracuse Rockets vs. Arlington Eagles
The Syracuse Rockets fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Arlington Eagles on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 63-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. Syracuse was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Arlington apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Arlington's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Trent Koger led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Koger has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Kieryn Grothe, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Syracuse now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Arlington, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Syracuse will take on Conestoga at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Conestoga will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. As for Arlington, they will head out on the road to square off against Fort Calhoun at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fort Calhoun presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Arlington in Nebraska (Fort Calhoun is ranked 35th, while Arlington is ranked 136th).
