Baseball Recap: Hunter Wolverines vs. West Jordan Jaguars
Hunter had lost five straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-12 to make it six. They lost 13-2 to the West Jordan Jaguars. That's two games in a row now that the Wolverines have lost by exactly 11 runs.
Gerald Cochran made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. Trace Vaccaro was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
As for West Jordan, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games.
On West Jordan's side, Bryn Gibson and Brock Litchfield made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Gibson struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Litchfield tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because West Jordan is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 4-6 otherwise. In other batting news, Cody Johnson was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2025. Riley Holmquist also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
