Baseball Recap: Berks Catholic Snags Eighth Win in Last Ten Games

Berks Catholic had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Reading on Thursday. The Saints blew past the Red KNights 8-2. Considering the Saints have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Aidan Curley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Trey Stricker was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four runs and one stolen base. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mikey Fidler, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs.

Berks Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Reading, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Berks Catholic will have a chance to go back-to-back against Reading: the pair will be back at it again later today.
