Softball Recap: Randolph-Henry Statesmen vs. Nottoway Cougars

Randolph-Henry was the 4-3 winner over Nottoway when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Statesmen fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Statesmen have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kendall Snead put in work no matter where she played. She tossed 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

Snead wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lindsay Locke, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that Locke has hit this season.

Randolph-Henry's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Nottoway, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Randolph-Henry will venture away from home to square off against Cumberland at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Nottoway, they will square off against Amelia County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars are facing the Raiders at the right time seeing as the Raiders are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
