Basketball Game Preview: Spry Community Links vs. Little Village Phoenix

Spry Community Links is 0-7 against Little Village since January of 2017 but things could change on Thursday. Spry Community Links will venture away from home to face off against the Little Village Phoenix at 4:30 p.m.

Spry Community Links is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 14th straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Collins and fell 81-20. One positive for Spry Community Links, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Little Village had already won 11 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34.5 points) and they went ahead and made it 12 on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Chicago Tech 97-35. The Phoenix have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 24 points or more this season.

Little Village's win came from a few key players Spry Community Links will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Pablo Rodriguez, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyshawn Miller, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 steals.

Little Village smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in eight consecutive contests.

Little Village pushed their record up to 14-3 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.1 points per game. As for Spry Community Links, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Spry Community Links took a serious blow against Little Village in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 92-20. Can Spry Community Links avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
