Baseball Recap: Ash Fork/Seligman Spartans vs. Maryvale Prep Matador
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ash Fork/Seligman). They blew past the Maryvale Prep Matador 23-1 on Tuesday. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by ten runs or more this season.
Branson Milius made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). He is becoming a predictor of Ash Fork/Seligman's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 1-4 when he doesn't). Milius was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Miclo Ayala, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. He has become a key player for Ash Fork/Seligman: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 0-4 otherwise.
