Softball Recap: Uwharrie Charter Academy Comes Up Short

Uwharrie Charter Academy was the 9-3 winner over Providence Grove when they last played one another back in March, but their luck changed this time around. The Eagles took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Patriots on Thursday. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Uwharrie Charter Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carly Rush, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one run. That triple was Rush's first of the season.

Uwharrie Charter Academy's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Providence Grove, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Uwharrie Charter Academy will welcome Eastern Randolph at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.69 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Providence Grove, they will be playing at home against Ledford at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Patriots' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
