Softball Game Preview: West Carteret Patriots vs. South Central Falcons

West Carteret hasn't had much luck against South Central recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Patriots will face off against the Falcons at 6:00 p.m. West Carteret's pitching crew has only allowed 1.9 runs per game this season, so South Central's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

West Carteret is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over White Oak on Thursday. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, South Central came up short against New Bern on Thursday, falling 7-1. The match marked the Falcons' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

South Central saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kamdyn Haislip, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

The win (which was West Carteret's third in a row) raised their record to 15-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for South Central, they dropped their record down to 8-6 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

West Carteret suffered a grim 10-1 defeat to South Central in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
