Preview: East Hardy Cougars vs. Doddridge County Bulldogs

The East Hardy Cougars are on the road again on Friday and play against the Doddridge County Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on October 20th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in West Virginia (East Hardy is ranked 50th, while Doddridge County is ranked 53rd).

Last Thursday, East Hardy didn't have too much trouble with Moorefield on the road as they won 24-6.

Meanwhile, Doddridge County had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36.5 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They breezed by Tygarts Valley on the road to the tune of 53-7. Doddridge County's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Doddridge County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brysen Dixon out in front who threw for 136 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Jerod Trent got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 5-2.

East Hardy didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Doddridge County in their previous matchup back in November of 2020, but they still walked away with a 25-19 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Doddridge County's Dylan Knight, who rushed for 44 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 73 receiving yards. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for East Hardy to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
