Simi Valley waltzed into their contest on Friday with 12 straight wins... but they left with 13. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Moorpark Musketeers. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 9-1 victory on Wednesday.

Greg Lopez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Rowan Schmidt, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Rodriguez, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Simi Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in four consecutive games.

Simi Valley's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-5. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Moorpark, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-12.
