Softball Game Preview: Battle Ground Tigers vs. Ridgefield Spudders

After both having extra time off, the Battle Ground Tigers and the Ridgefield Spudders will shake off the rust and duke it out at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Ridgefield took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Battle Ground, who comes in off a win.

Battle Ground's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Evergreen. The Tigers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Ridgefield faced Mark Morris in a battle between two of the state's top teams last Tuesday. The Spudders fell just short of the Monarchs by a score of 4-2. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Spudders couldn't push the score so high this time.

The win got Battle Ground back to even at 2-2-1. As for Ridgefield, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Battle Ground was able to grind out a solid victory over Ridgefield in their previous matchup back in May of 2023, winning 7-2. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Spudders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
