Softball Recap: Diamond Bar Brahmas vs. Ayala Bulldogs
Diamond Bar extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 8-12 in the process. They came up short against the Ayala Bulldogs, falling 14-1. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, with their most recent defeat being a 6-1 loss on April 9th.
As for Ayala, the win (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 17-2. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.
For Ayala's part, Lilanna Acosta was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Acosta has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple.
In other batting news, Ayala got a massive performance out of Taelor Walker, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Walker has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Isol Lopez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Diamond Bar will challenge Walnut at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Brahmas are facing the Mustangs at the right time seeing as the Mustangs are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Ayala, they will square off against Claremont at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
