The Midland Valley Mustangs will take on the North Augusta Yellow Jackets at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Midland Valley is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last nine games.
On Wednesday, Midland Valley earned a 12-8 win over Ninety Six.
Bailey Seabolt was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Macey Nelson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Midland Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive games.
Meanwhile, North Augusta fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Midland Valley on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 9-8. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 18, 2023, but that streak is no more.
Emily Geddes made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Emily Cloy was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Midland Valley's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for North Augusta, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-9.
Both Midland Valley and North Augusta just can't seem to miss. The Mustangs have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. However, it's not like North Augusta struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
