Jesuit had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They skirted past the Lakeland Christian Vikings 3-1. The Tigers are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 14 straight dating back to last season.
Ryan Thompson looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). What's more, he also gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brody Smith, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two). Cannon Murtaugh was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
Coming up, Jesuit will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Calvary Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lakeland Christian, they will head out to square off against Lake Wales at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
