Soccer Game Preview: North Port vs. Gateway Charter

The North Port Bobcats and the Gateway Charter Griffins will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty goal totals in their previous games.

North Port is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They blew past Imagine School at North Port 9-1 on Thursday. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 4-1.

Meanwhile, Gateway Charter hadn't done well against South Fort Myers recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Gateway Charter won by a goal and slipped past South Fort Myers 4-3. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Griffins' offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Gateway Charter moved to 2-4 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for North Port, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

North Port took their win against Gateway Charter in their previous meeting back in December of 2020 by a conclusive 8-0. Does North Port have another victory up their sleeve, or will Gateway Charter turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
