Basketball Recap: Johnson Ferry Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Johnson Ferry Christian Academy lost against Lanier Christian Academy last Friday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Johnson Ferry Christian Academy Saints took a blow against the Lanier Christian Academy Lightning, falling 89-60. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Thursday (58), the Saints still had to take the loss.

Johnson Ferry Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Trent Witte, who posted 11 points and seven rebounds. Witte is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jackson Shull, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds.

Mekhi Barber was his usual excellent self, going 12 of 20 on his way to 31 points in addition to six rebounds and six steals for Lanier Christian Academy. Another player making a difference was Xavier Barber, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 16 points in addition to seven assists and five boards.

Johnson Ferry Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Lanier Christian Academy, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.

Johnson Ferry Christian Academy will take on Covenant Christian Academy in a holiday battle at at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Johnson Ferry Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Covenant Christian Academy likes a good challenge. Lanier Christian Academy and Westminster Christian Academy will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
