Basketball Recap: Lincoln East Picks Up Second Consecutive Victory

If Benson wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Lincoln East, they should've done a better job of containing Nolan O'Neill. The Lincoln East Spartans walked away with a 61-51 win over the Benson Bunnies on Tuesday thanks in part to O'Neill, who posted 12 points. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

Benson's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Antonio Carson Jr., who went 7 of 14 on his way to 19 points. Carson Jr.'s evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Lino, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 13 points and seven rebounds.

The victory made it two in a row for Lincoln East and bumps their season record up to 4-6. As for Benson, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lincoln East will welcome Lincoln North Star at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lincoln East is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.9 points per game this season. As for Benson, they will host Buena Vista on Friday. Benson also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 61.2 points per game.
