Soccer Game Preview: William Byrd vs. Franklin County

The William Byrd Terriers will face off against the Franklin County Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

William Byrd's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Fleming as they made off with an 8-0 win. The high-scoring effort was just what William Byrd needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Meanwhile, Franklin County hasn't lost a match yet, a trend which continued in their latest game on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over Northside. Franklin County haven't had any issues with Northside recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Franklin County pushed their record up to 9-0-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 29 goals over those six contests. As for William Byrd, their win bumped their record up to 6-4-1.

William Byrd couldn't quite get it done against Franklin County in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 3-1. Can the Terriers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
