Softball Game Preview: Kingsville Tigers vs. Midway Vikings

The Kingsville Tigers will take on the Midway Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

As a matter of fact, Kingsville put up the most runs they have all season on Monday. They blew past Rich Hill 20-9. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Kingsville.

Kingsville got a massive performance out of Kylie Stout, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with five runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. That's the most runs Stout has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gracie Hoover, who went 1-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Midway, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Rich Hill 12-11 on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Vikings as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Laicey Anderson was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and one stolen base. Michaela Brown was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Kingsville's win bumped their record up to 4-12. As for Midway, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.

Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Kingsville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .313. However, it's not like Midway struggles in that department as they've averaged .324. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
