Softball Recap: South Rowan Comes Up Short

After flying high against Robinson last Friday, South Rowan came back down to earth. The South Rowan Raiders fell just short of the Concord Spiders by a score of 10-9 on Tuesday. The Raiders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spiders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Danica Krieg made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Cressley Patterson, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Krieg wasn't the only one working in the hit department: South Rowan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive contests.

South Rowan suffered their first road defeat, dropping their record down to 2-2. As for Concord, the victory snapped their losing streak at 13 games dating back to last season and leaves them with a 1-2 record.

Coming up, South Rowan will welcome East Davidson at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. South Rowan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season. As for Concord, they will head out on the road to face off against Lake Norman Charter at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
