Baseball Recap: Springside Chestnut Hill Academy Takes a Loss

Springside Chestnut Hill Academy was the 8-6 winner over Malvern Prep when they last played one another back in April, but their luck changed this time around. The Blue Devils fell just short of the Friars by a score of 3-2 on Friday.

Stokes Tate was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Connor Crittenden made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Springside Chestnut Hill Academy's defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-4. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 3.14 runs. As for Malvern Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 19-5.

Springside Chestnut Hill Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Malvern Prep, they will square off against Radnor at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Raptors' pitching crew has only allowed 2.1 runs per game this season, so the Friars' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
