Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, Christian Family Academy made sure to put some runs up on the board against Lake Lure Classical Academy back in April. The Fire were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Raptors. The victory continues a trend for the Fire in their matchups with the Raptors: they've now won five in a row.
Charles Murray and Christopher Sponsellar were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Murray tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Sponsellar tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At the plate, Murray went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple, while Sponsellar went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those runs marked the first that Sponsellar has scored this season.
In other batting news, Peyton Hammond was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those RBI were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jacob Yoder, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Christian Family Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Pinnacle Classical Academy's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Christian Family Academy, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
