Basketball Recap: McLean Takes a Loss

McLean lost against Georgetown Day back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. McLean fell 69-59 to the Georgetown Day Mighty Hoppers. While losing is never fun, McLean can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 152nd in Maryland, while Georgetown Day is ranked 24th in District of Columbia).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Georgetown Day to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rafriel Guthrie, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 14 points. Another player making a difference was Arjun Bhargava, who went 5 of 9 en route to 13 points and five boards.

This is the second loss in a row for McLean and nudges their season record down to 6-4. As for Georgetown Day, with the win, they broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-7.

McLean will be playing at home against Sandy Spring Friends at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Georgetown Day, they will head out on the road to take on Potomac School at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
