Softball Recap: Plant City Has No Trouble Against Lakeland Christian

The Plant City Raiders got the win against the Lakeland Christian Vikings on Tuesday by a conclusive 17-7. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Rylee Mobley and Kyleigh Meiers did most of the damage at the plate: Mobley fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4, while Meiers got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Meiers a new career-high. Isabelle Wright was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Plant City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lakeland Christian only posted an OBP of .361.

Plant City is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Lakeland Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season.

Plant City and Lakeland Christian should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. The Raiders will challenge Robinson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (167 vs. 393). Meanwhile, Lakeland Christian (ranked 155th) will meet Discovery (ranked 545th) at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
