Softball Recap: Diboll Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

On Thursday, it was close, but the Diboll Lumberjacks sidestepped the LEAD Academy Lions for a 7-5 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lumberjacks.

Brooklyn Hernandez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on De'Mya Smith, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Emily Vasquez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Diboll's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-5.

Coming up, Diboll will welcome LEAD Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for LEAD Academy, they will be taking part in a tournament against Douglass at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
