Basketball Recap: Jerzee Hart's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Roy over Clearfield

Roy played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 56-32 to the Clearfield Falcons. The Royals haven't had much luck with the Falcons recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Several Royals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jerzee Hart, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 10 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Talyeah Valdez, who posted three points and five steals.

Clearfield's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Isabelle Wyaskett led the charge by putting up nine points along with five assists and five boards. Wyaskett has been hot, having also posted four or more steals the last five times she's played. Xiyah Yarbrough was another key player, going 5 of 8 on her way to 13 points.

Roy's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Clearfield, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-4.

Roy will host Woods Cross at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Clearfield, they will venture away from home to square off against Bountiful at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Bountiful knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Clearfield likes a good challenge.
