Baseball Recap: Pike Comes Up Short

After flying high against Warren Central on Tuesday, Pike came back down to earth. The Red Devils fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 2-1 on Wednesday. The Red Devils were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Warriors earlier this season, when they won 10-3.

Pike saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rory Weaver, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Another was Lincoln Sigmund, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Pike's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Warren Central, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-7-1.

Looking ahead, Pike will be playing in front of their home fans against Western Boone at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The last three games the Stars have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Warren Central, they will venture away from home to challenge Irvington Preparatory Academy at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
