Baseball Recap: Winnebago Beats Rock Falls for Their Third Straight Win

Winnebago extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 11-20 in the process. They were the clear victors by a 15-8 margin over the Rock Falls Rockets. The game was the first time the Indians have beaten the Rockets on their field since April 19, 2022.

As for Rock Falls, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-16-1. Rockets fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against Winnebago since on Thursday.

For Rock Falls' part, Carter Hunter and Austin Castaneda did some serious damage despite the final result: Hunter got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI, while Castaneda got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. The Rockets are 6-2 when Castaneda posts two or more runs, but 6-14-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Fritz, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.

Winnebago will have a chance to go back-to-back against Rock Falls: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
