Soccer Game Preview: West Anchorage vs. Dimond

The West Anchorage Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Dimond Lynx at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with West Anchorage sitting on seven straight wins and Dimond on eight.

West Anchorage is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Eagle River, who was ranked 17th at the time (West Anchorage was ranked second). The Eagles' defense stepped up to hand Wolves an 8-0 shutout on Thursday. West Anchorage's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last six contests.

Their offense was hitting Eagle River from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal. Adoum Abakarabdou led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dimond). They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Bartlett on Thursday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded Dimond with their most commanding win of the season.
