The Academy of the Holy Names Jaguars put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 52-37 win over Steinbrenner. Given Academy of the Holy Names' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while Steinbrenner is ranked 209th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lucy Morey continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 23 points along with 5 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Academy of the Holy Names' points. Another player making a difference was Grace Gavin, who scored 18 points.
Despite the loss, Steinbrenner still got an impressive performance from Lindsay Phillips, who scored 8 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals.
Academy of the Holy Names' victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Steinbrenner, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Academy of the Holy Names will take on Bloomingdale at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
