Volleyball Recap: Hart Pirates vs. East Grand Rapids Pioneers
Hart kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell 2-0 to the East Grand Rapids Pioneers. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.
Reese Smith paced Hart's offense, picking up six kills. Smith got some help from Cali Eisenlohr and her 13 assists. Finally, Ava Johnson kept Hart's defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.
East Grand Rapids' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rylee Stanley-Eldred, who had 11 digs and one assist. Stanley-Eldred has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Mackenzee Stanley-Eldred, who had four digs and two aces.
The victory got East Grand Rapids back to even at 1-1.
Hart has already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Ludington on the 22nd. As for East Grand Rapids, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 2-0 win against East Kentwood on the 22nd.
