Basketball Game Preview: West Pioneers vs. South Titans

West is 2-8 against South since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The West Pioneers will challenge the South Titans at 6:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

West is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 25th straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They received a blow as they fell 41-27 to North. One positive for the Pioneers, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, South was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 38-33 heartbreaker at the hands of Bishop Carroll. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 253rd, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 73rd).

South's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for West, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.

West was taken down by South 68-5 in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can West avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
