            Football Recap: Bay City Blackcats vs. La Vernia Bears        
        
		
        
        
            Bay City dropped to 5-2 on Friday, ending the team's nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They fell just short of the La Vernia Bears by a score of  25-22. If the Blackcats were looking for revenge after losing  42-24 to the Bears when the teams met back in December of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
 Several Blackcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was   Adrian Molina, who picked up 105 receiving yards and a pair of  scores. Molina was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 55 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of  Keimarion Wiggins, who threw for 142 yards and three  touchdowns.
As for La Vernia, the  victory was  the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-1. The  wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 12.4 points on average over those games.
 La Vernia was led to victory by  COOPER NULL and  TY CARTER.  NULL rushed for 112 yards and a pair of  TDs, while  CARTER rushed for 107 yards and one  score. NULL is also crushing it when it comes to  rushing touchdowns: he's   punched in at least two every time he's  taken the field this season.
 Coming up, Bay City is taking a road trip to  face off against El Campo  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. The Blackcats' defense better be ready for this one: the Ricebirds have averaged an impressive 38  points per game this season. As for La Vernia, they will look to defend their home field  on Friday against Jones  at 7:00  p.m. The Bears will be up against the Trojans' rather soft defense (which has allowed 34.86  points per  contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
