Baseball Game Preview: Langham Creek Lobos vs. Katy Tigers

The Langham Creek Lobos will take on the Katy Tigers in a tournament on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Langham Creek will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Thursday, then bounced right back against Temple on Friday. Everything went Langham Creek's way against Temple as Langham Creek made off with a 10-2 win. The contest marked the Lobos' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Caden Thomas was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Langham Creek got a big performance out of Yusiel Cordero, who scored two runs while going 4-for-4. Those two runs gave Cordero a new career-high. Cole Molina was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run.

Langham Creek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Katy owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Bellaire 2-0.

Langham Creek's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-8. As for Katy, their win bumped their record up to 11-4.

Langham Creek suffered a grim 13-1 defeat to Katy in their previous matchup back in March of 2020. Can Langham Creek avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
