It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Owasso had no problem doing just that on Friday. They snuck past the Sapulpa Chieftains with a 55-51 win. For the Rams, this counts as revenge for the 62-26 victory the Chieftains walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Sapulpa's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Riki Mcquarters, who posted 17 points in addition to seven steals and six rebounds, and Wrigley Adkisson, who almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine boards. Mcquarters is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 20 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kianna Littlebear, who earned five points.
Owasso is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.4 points over those games. Sapulpa moved to 14-11 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.
Coming up, Owasso will face off against Broken Arrow at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Broken Arrow will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something Owasso surely won't give up without a fight. Sapulpa does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
