Basketball Recap: North Miami Beach Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact North Miami Beach can now relate to. They were beaten by the Pine Crest Panthers 73-26 on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 581st, while the Panthers are ranked 171st).

Jeremiah Borrero was North Miami Beach's leading scorer, having posted nine points. Jeremy Gerffarad held things down on the boards with four rebounds.

Pine Crest's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Karl Mullins, who posted 14 points along with eight assists and seven steals. Mullins is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 17 games he's played. Rowan Hoffman was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 14 boards.

North Miami Beach has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season. As for Pine Crest, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season.

North Miami Beach does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pine Crest, they will face off against NSU University on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.
