Basketball Game Preview: Athens Academy Spartans vs. Banks County Leopards

The Athens Academy Spartans will face off against the Banks County Leopards at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Athens Academy is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

Athens Academy is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Rabun County on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Athens Academy took a blow against Rabun County, falling 71-41. Meanwhile, Banks County came up short against Providence Christian Academy on Friday and fell 64-56. The defeat continues a trend for the Leopards in their matchups with the Storm: they've now lost three in a row.

Athens Academy will have to contain Kolby Watson as he made an impact in Banks County's last game. He dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten boards. Dayden Rogers was another key player, putting up 14 points and six rebounds.

Banks County's loss dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Athens Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-14.

Athens Academy came up short against Banks County in their previous meeting on Tuesday, falling 64-54. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Rogers, who went 9 of 12 to rack up 28 points.
