Soccer Game Preview: Omaha Central vs. Kearney

Omaha Central hasn't had much luck against Kearney recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Eagles will square off against the Bearcats at 3:00 p.m. Kearney took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Omaha Central, who comes in off a win.

Omaha Central is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nebraska's top teams: Omaha South, who was ranked 11th at the time (Omaha Central was ranked 14th). The Eagles skirted past the Packers 4-3. The high-scoring effort was just what Omaha Central needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

They hit Omaha South with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Zaakir Vance (2), Alekzys Castellon, and Luqman Salad.

Meanwhile, Kearney might've scored the first goal on Monday, but it was Lincoln Southwest who claimed the real prize. The Bearcats fell just short of the Silver Hawks by a score of 3-2. Kearney haven't had much luck with Lincoln Southwest recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Omaha Central pushed their record up to 8-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 16 goals over those four matchups. As for Kearney, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Omaha Central suffered a grim 6-2 defeat to Kearney in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Eagles were down 5-0.
