Football Recap: Sunlake's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Sunlake couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They took a 26-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Springstead Eagles on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-13 back in March.

Leading Springstead to victory were J'Ziyah Munford and Tija Holland. Munford rushed for 50 yards and one TD, while Holland picked up 104 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Holland didn't just play on offense: she also picked up a sack and made three total tackles.

Sunlake moved to 12-5 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Springstead, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-5.

Sunlake does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Springstead, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 19-6 defeat against Land O' Lakes on the 16th.
