Softball Recap: James Logan Comes Up Short

James Logan dropped their record down to 12-4-1 on Saturday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 12-2 to the Granada Matadors. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Colts, who until this contest were averaging 3.76 runs allowed.

James Logan saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Medellin, who went 2-for-3 with one triple. That triple was Medellin's first of the season. Another was Selena Gonzales, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

As for Granada, they pushed their record up to 11-8 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Granada's side, Ella Vonbergen tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off eight hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kallie Brannon, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Bittman, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Looking ahead, James Logan will face off against Moreau Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Granada, they will square off against Dublin at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Matadors are facing the Gaels at the right time seeing as the Gaels are stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
